It’s April first at the time of my writing this post, and the sun is shining. The flowers are blooming, and the trees are budding, announcing the coming of spring. Looking out my window and seeing all this new life springing forth fills me with joy.
This remarkable rebirth of nature is reflected in my creative endeavors. I’ve worked long and hard on the original comic, Siblings of Steel, and now the first issue is near completion. What a thrilling feeling, and scary too, to be almost ready to show your work to the world.
Anywho, here’s what I’ve accomplished in March:
I finished the last of the art by about the 10th (inks, shading, etc.). While doing that, I did the lettering for the first few pages as a test to see what they would look like finished. I designed a font based on my handwriting that I’m pretty taken with, one that I’m sure I’ll continue to refine as the series goes on.
That left about ten comics to finish this month, which I completed on the 30th. Now all that’s left is the inside and outside back cover. Those are more graphic designs than lettering, so it’s been a nice change of pace.
I also worked on a couple of side projects this month. I drew a mini-comic and worked on the script for another series of mine (no promises on when this will come out, though). Of course, I did other things in March, but they only had a little to do with comics.
I took a walk almost every day of the week, did a lot of homework for college, and worked on a website for a big client (if you are interested in my web development work, you can check out my website here.
Siblings of Steel issue 1 is almost complete, and I’ve been thinking about the best way to get it out to you guys. So expect news on that soon.
But that’s all for this month. Happy April, everyone!
